Is there any advantage to using wooden scales?

Hello all.
Being very new to this craft, I was wondering if there is a distinct advantage to using wooden scales (or disadvantage) or is it just a matter of preference? I have a good Dovo with plastic scales and 1 Boker(old) that has wooden scales and the only advantage I can come up with, is that I think the wooden one is not quite as slippery when wet. I would really like to replace some scales on a razor and think I would go with wood for the reason of being less slippery. Any thoughts, comments or opinions are truly appreciated.

You'll have to seal the wood with CA (superglue) or otherwise stabilize it. Otherwise, the moisture will affect the wood and make them shrink / warp.

Pure aesthetics. They are basically there to protect the blade while not in use. A lot of the members here have taken it to a whole nother level. There are some amazing custom scales here if you take the time to look around.
