I'm hoping all is not lost here. I've only been straight shaving for about a month or so. Was having the best shave to date with a newly purchased DD special #1. About halfway through the shave I take a good chip out of the blade with the help of my faucet. I felt like I killed my unicorn.
So all that aside, I'm hoping one of you here can help me with the best course of action here. I'm going to attempt to include a pic, so let me know if it doesn't show up. Thanks.

Get it to one of the Honemeisters from this forum Like gssixgun or Lynn. there are several more. They should be able to hone that out. the blade will just be a little narrower in the end.
No big deal brother. Not sure where your located but there maybe a mentor who's willing to do you a favor or at least cut you a break.
That chip won't cost you much blade real estate at all.
easy fix, the blade just has to be ground or honed back past the chip... new bevel, and you're good to go.
Still, go with a pro if it's a double duck...
those are great shavers when treated right
look for a honer in your area and you should be able to get it back on track fairly easily & quickly
you are not the first or the last to do it so don't worry to much about it
but it is lesson learned

Meaning instead of rinsing it under the faucet you have a wet sponge next to you to wipe it on correct?

Be thankful it wasn't worse. That can be easily fixed by one of the honemiesters. I hope you have a backup!
