I have no idea what a fair rate for it is as I haven't shopped around or bought any. I'm interested in 1x6x1/8" or x3/16". I got a quote of $70-$75 each, that would be about $150 a razor.
Any insights or direction would be helpful.

Who did you contact Hart? Gary from Canadianivory.com? I know he has mammoth ivory slabs, but I thought they were around 2" wide. At least good enough for two, maybe three razors.
depends on the color.Drab browns are cheap.Blue and greenish run $300/lb+++
I haven't shopped around so I don't have any helpful info to the OP, but I'm just amazed it's out there in circulation. To know you are in posession of such a cool material is amazing to me - seems like the price would be out of reach. I think I've only seen the Dovo with it. Be sure to post when you use it!
Maybe there's more of it around than I think?
Lots of mammoth around, the Russians control 90% of the market.
Some of the most colorfull comes from alaskan mining operations.
Ck out:Scrimshaw, Fossil Walrus Ivory, Mammoth Ivory, Gold Jewelry
Yup, that's the guy. I haven't bought mammoth, but I do know when I ordered my walrus tusk I inquired about both walrus and Mammoth. Walrus was cheaper.
I'm not sure you can be real fussy about the cost. There's not too many places to buy ivory in Canada. It cost what it costs, and its not cheap for a reason.
Unless of course you have an Inuit friend who lives way up North. :)
Cross cut mammoth ivory is hot :)
