Professional Restoring a SR price question

Here is a question that is on my mind..... and hope I am not breaking the rules asking this (remove if I am, please)......

I have a few W&B and other Sheffield SRs I am thinking about sending in to a pro to have restored.

On average..... How expensive does it get? $50, $100....$1000? Just a ball park figure or market average. I do realize that some restores do cost more than others. Also depends too on what I want done. I'm just not wanting to waste the time of Pro by asking them "how much is this going to cost and such"...... I know there are a lot of guys on here who do Pro work. I see how beautiful a lot of the razors are after they brought back from the grave.......

Well Willis, I'm not sure about the rule thing, but your question can't really be answered without a lot more information. May I suggest that you take some very good pictures of the razors in question and email some of the pros with the question of a budget estimate. Not an economy estimate but an estimate for the purposes of budgeting. This will give you a ballpark number or two to help you decide if you want to go in at around that price. Estimates are not quotes however, as I doubt anyone without a razor in hand would quote anything. Just an idea. I do not do pro restoration nor have I had any done but a thought on the subject.

Unfortunately there really is no average price. So much depends on the condition of the razor and what you hope to accomplish with it. Some restorations take less then an hour and some take all day. Maybe you can post some close up pics of one of them to get an idea of what it will take.

Hate to ask, and realize I might be violation, but I have new olive wood scales for a 5-6/8th common American (Geneva) blade. Pls PM me..

Willis .......... I'll do it for $1,000.00 and I'll pay the return shipping ........ that's the kind of guy I am ..... :p ....... or you can go to member services in the SRP classifieds and ask one of the restorers what they would charge for your particular needs.

Price will depend on scale material, what is done to the razor etc. Different restorers also charge differently for the services, there is no unified price scale.

SRD sells a Mastro Livi custom damascus for $1,600...

I have one of the Livi snake razors from his shop in Italy - expensive, but worth every penny to me.
