I think a lot of us would have written that one off after seeing the corrosion near the edge. A good save - and the scales look great as well.

I was not sure myself when I found it. Under the rust there was quite a lot of pitting around the edge, and after the first rounds of sanding (before 400) I went to the 1k and set a bevel, just to see that there was good steel to be found. There's also some remaining pitting I decided to leave, afraid of changing the hollow grind too much. Though not at the very edge, I was lucky with this one.
