Antique Store Find!
I am very quickly learning that this is a very addicting hobby to have, as I am now the owner of several razors instead of 1. Yesterday, I went to an antique store to get a couple of junk razors to try and restore before i attempt my recent Sheffield purchase, and as I was walking out I noticed a simple box in a case. I didn't see a price and thought it would be cool to have an old box so i asked for the guy to open the case. He handed it to me and there was a razor hidden in the box! I pulled out a Dubl Duck Goldedge with a 10$ price tag. I had to try and keep a poker-face on so he couldn't see my excitement. I'm new to this, but from what I've heard about Dubl Ducks I'm guessing this was a good buy. The blade and edge are great except for a slight frown and some patina, and there is a little rust on the tang. I am not going to even think about any sort of restoration with this razor until I am much more sure of my skills with restoration and honing. Until then, what would everyone suggest to keep this razor in decent shape? Just a coat of mineral oil and keep it dry? Also is a slight frown simply fixed by honing?
Thanks in advance gentlemen.

Unless I'm seeing it wrong, looks to be a little bit frowning.
Nice little project after you get some experience. Good find.
Congrats.

Some good quality metal polish (Simichrome, Blue Magic etc) and some 0000 steel wool will get it shiny and a drop or two of gun oil will preserve it until it's ready to use

There's no guessing needed...You Stole It!! Do a search on eBay and look the prices. It looks like a pretty easy restoration. As for the frown, if it were me, I would send it to one of the very top honing guys and have it done professionally. That's coming from someone that owns about 30 razors and does all his own honing and restoring. Even if you had it restored too, you will be into it for way, way less $$ than what it's worth. You struck gold!! Why not treat yourself? I have one of those and they are superb shavers.
Whatever you do...Congratulations and enjoy!!!

Jackpot!! You should be out buying a lottery ticket cuz it's your lucky day!
Awesome find and will clean up fine. Minor frown will be easy to cure and will hone up fine I'm sure.
Congrats!
