Christmas Conversion
I've been thinking that my brother might enjoy using a straight. So for the upcoming christmas I've put together a set for him. First thought was to make some matching scales for another blade, but time was flying and I didn't manage. The razor is an SSA Eskilstuna, full hollow. Scales and wedge in ebony and the lining is aluminium. (posted before in http://straightrazorpalace.com/works...ssa-ebony.html) .
The brush is of ash wood, oiled and laquered as extra water protection. 24 mm badger from the Golden Nib.
The strop is double-sided with main side of pure leather. The back side is balsa wood with Dovo black paste. Also ash wood, and treated with boiled linseed oil.

I hope this will convert him to the good side.
Happy holidays, (admittedly a bit early)

That is a very nice gift. With such a shaving set, how could your brother not convert?

You know your brother better than anyone here. So I hope he enjoys what you're put together for him. But don't be surprised if he doesn't stick with it. Its not for everyone. My brother has a vague interest straight shaving but there is no convincing him to actually try it. He did so once in the past and had a bad experience. He likes a good cream and brush but that's it. I don't try to convince him because I know he's just not that into it. I hope your brother is.

What a splendid and thoughtful gift.
I trust your brother is appreciative and enjoys the use thereof.

Awesome gift! Maybe include a few links to sites like this and some shave vids to get him off to a good start this time.

I'm very aware that we are into a special type of hobby/beard control. Maybe he'll like it, maybe not. I figured that a good basic set, and a sharp blade gives the best chance of success. I will provide some good advice, reading and videos, trying to keep it simple.

Looks like you did a very nice job of making those for your brother. Even if he does not start shaving with a straight razor I am sure he will appreciate the thought and effort to make behind the gifts.

Very nice gift indeed.
I guess the plus side of it would be, that if he doesn't take to straight shaving, he might gift it back to you.
