Possible to make scales look like a lightsaber

Any idea if this would be possible??

Thought about ordering one and figureing out a way to cut in half. Or get one made.

Hmmm... that may be a bit on the large side for SR scales, but I also don't know what that particular scale model would look like in my hands. You might look around for miniaturized lightsaber that are more readily available. What I'm thinking of are the small kid toys, or the suckers that look like a lightsaber & light up with the push of a button.

Once you have that, you could get some mold maker's putty to make a soft mold of the saber you settle on. Then it is a simple matter of either pouring resin in there to make a mold, or pressing soft crafter's clay into it for the same.

I made scales out of a carrot once.

It's possible, but you might need some extra equipment.
I had a request a couple of years ago to make a pocket knife that looked like a homelite chainsaw. I 3d scanned the chainsaw, scaled it to hold the blade size that was requested, and 3d printed the mold. From there is it was just a resin cast. The hardest issue was trying to keep the color resin from intermingling at their interfaces.

It would be possible with the right sized toy but might be difficult to get the right size. One option would be to make micarta from light saber pictures.

Your idea of a light sabre has me thinking though, the handle of a light saber toy could easily be converted into a nice storage box for a razor.

I don't see it being a very practical shape unless you're willing to taper it down at the pivot. You would have very wide scales competing for you're finger space. Maybe it would work with a long monkey tail.
