That is a frameback.
Originally, it's blade was a pretty even width, but it was honed with a heavy hand and shrunk towards the point. Then it lost the frame from the spine, disguising most of the hone-wear.
It can likely be honed, but you will need to create a replacement frame. It's not something I've ever tried to do, but it should be possible using a length of brass pipe.
:aargh: and I thought I got me a tapered Butcher for $20...
It is almost certainly repairable, and once repaired, it will be tapered!Quote:
