It can be done, but the accessories needed to lengthen the shafts enough to make it useable put you pretty close to the price of a Harbor Freight buffer.
Is there a particular way to lengthen the shafts and why is this necessary?Quote:

Big wheels don't match all the razors grinds. You may be able to get away with an 8 " wheel on full wedges but they don't work to well on hollow ground razors. Not to mention if those are 6" wheels and you put bigger ones on your increasing the speed. 1700rpm is okay 1500 better.
If you look at the harbor freight buffers you will see how long the shafts are. I use 4 inch wheels on those and they still need to be out farther.
Right now it has 8 inch grinding wheels on it. I plan on putting smaller buffing wheels on it but I'm still working on size.
The speed should be ok
I run 4" & 2" buff wheels on a 3400 RPM grinder with out to much problem but the 1740RPM will do it better
Put a razor up to the wheel and see if you have enough clearance to buff the tip of a razor face without hitting the housing with the tang. Make sure you have the wheels as far away from the housing, with the nuts on fully threaded.
Make spacers to put between the housing and the wheel to space the wheel further from the housing.
You want to run 4 in spiral sewn cotton wheels, Caswell Polishing, is where I get my wheels from, as well as all the compounds.
Not the only suppliers but these are really handy! They extend the shafts and you can change buffs in a very short time:Just assure that you have them on the correct end of the buffer!!
