A puma 223 has come into my possession via inheritance and i am curious as to is there is any chance to restore this razor to any former glory it once had as it holds alot of personal value.

A puma 223 has come into my possession via inheritance and i am curious as to is there is any chance to restore this razor to any former glory it once had as it holds alot of personal value.
The rust and pitting is pretty bad near the tip. I'm not saying it isn't worth the effort, but if it weren't an heirloom I'd say bag it.
Just take your time and see what kind of progress you can make with it.
Take a razor blade and try scraping off the rust on the end to see how bad it actually is.
I've done some pretty iffy looking razors that came out looking good, but that one even scares me.....
No matter how bad the tip is I wouldn't make a shorty out of it. Since it's an heirloom, if the pitting is too bad to get past, just clear the active rust and focus on preservation.
