I have a few blades with horn scales and I've read that horn needs some kind of balm against cracks. What is it and where can I get it?
Thanks

Pure neatsfoot oil works great. Available from Straight Razor Designs (as strop dressing).
And shoe stores and hardware stores and farm and ranch supply stores.
Neatsfoot oil works well. I've also used soft bees wax with pretty good results.
Yup, neetsfoot oil, at most Ace Hardware stores. About $6 for a bottle.
Dip a Qtip and rub on the inside of the scales and the out, if it drinks it up give it another wipe. I do so with my coYup, neetsfoot oil, at most Ace Hardware stores. About $6 for a bottle.
Dip a Qtip and rub on the inside of the scales and the out, if it drinks it up give it another wipe and buff after a few minutes, I do so with my collection every few months or so.
For old razors, that I purchase, I soak in a zip lock bag about a ¼ full with neat’s-foot for a few days or a week. After cleaning with WD40 and steel wool. Then remove from the neatsfoot and clean again, won’t hurt the steel.
I keep the bag with the neatsfoot, for the next pair, seems there is always at least one pair in there.
Once dry polish with a good metal polish or Novus Plastic polish, it will make them gleam.
Neetsfoot rehydrates, Beeswax seals and shines.
