So I picked up this ERN Crown and sword with the intention of cleaning it up. Had some good luck with an ATOR that cleaned up well and is now a really good shaver.
It looks like if I want to sand down to clean steel I'm going to lose the etching. Any advise? clean or keep?

Give it a cleaning, hone it, and enjoy it. There's better ones out there.

Its difficult from the picture at least to even see the etching. I agree clean and use find one with clearer etch.
The best way to save etching seems to be accomplished by use of a tumbler, but I'm not sure that a tumbler could save that etching. As others have suggested, it might be best to let it go on that one.
What would you rather have, a razor that looks good or one that shaves good? Saving the etching won't make it shave better........Enjoy!

I love eching in excellent condition so I reeching it.
