Restoring dubl duck special number one razor, few questions.
I have finished most of the sanding I am going to do until I tear down the razor and make new scales for it so I was going to go ahead and put a bevel on it while the old scales are still on.
There was rust near the bevel area when I got the razor so I had to trim a good bit of metal so I sort of used it as a saw on a 220 grit to flatten the frown it had. after that I used a D8C stone I use for flattening with tape on the spine to start working on the bevel and while one side has a even bevel the other side has a large bevel in the middle and the sides it doesn't really show. I looked at the spine and it has no wear, unlike the other side where the bevel and spine wear was even. Can I put tape on the razors edge and use the D8C to flatten the spine? and if so Anything special I should do while flattening it.
tldr: can I flatten the spine using a D8C while tape preserves edge. Or how should I go about flattening it. Just want it to be flat enough where I can get a good bevel across the whole blade.
will add pics in a sec if you want to see razor but the picture quality is not great. http://imgur.com/a/7ETIs
the side that does have even spine wear doesnt have bevel showing in middle, although that area was where I had to remove some rust so I figured I would just have to hone some more metal off until a bevel formed there.
Also would Lowes have the nickel/brass pin and or washers I need for new scales? I have everything else. If I need to buy online what place would you suggest.
