Hey Mike,

I gotta say... Those magnets really hold onto the blade and make a solid work surface.
Thanks for the tip.

Good on ya!
A couple deep saw slots on the back will allow you to have a good way to work the spine and jimps. The blade goes in edge down and is held with one thumb with the jig in hand while the other one does the deeds.
According to some old timers the first ones just had the saw slots.
Enjoy your new tool! It will pay dividends!
For final work, cover the magnets with a layer of tape. They collect swarf and will ruin the polish of the back side of the blade if you let them.
Again, thanks for the reminder!

Ive really got to make me one of these. And then get to getting things done.
Time, time, time.............just never enough in my life
Magnets available from dead disk drives, Amazon, the 'bay. " rare earth magnets. Buy extra's, you will find a lot of uses for them!

Here is mine. Dirty! but it shows it been used a lot. Three magnets under the changeable material.Attachment 275466
I have a few of them that William Heckathorn made for me a decade or so ago. Great things!
Then, as complaining to Tarkus (Darl) about the residual magnetism, he sent me this demagnifier.

I have a strip of masking tape across it now.
Turn it on, three swipes of the spine across the tape and it will no longer want to cuddle your other blades.
Trust me............:rofl2:
I looked on fleabay a while back. They can be had reasonably.
I'm still on the fence about building one of these jigs for myself. I get great functionality from my thigh (clothed) as a work surface.
But for those that pick up a magnetic hold on their razor, the small tool demagnetizer meant for screwdrivers & such should do the trick. And for only $3 at the local big box hardware store!
