Gents,
I do not have the Restoration CD from BillyBlades so I need to ask a dumb question :o . How exactly is the tubing used? Does it protrude through the scales or only work as a housing / spacer for the "axle-like" pins?

If you want to use the tubing, you use it between the scales. It's only a VERY small piece the width of the tang, that fits in the tang-hole that the pin goes through. The pin then passes through this tubing. Personally, I find that in the older razors in which the tang hole is not necessarily drilled straight, the tubing will only accent the angle when the pin passes through.
You don't need the tubing.

What about filling the HUGE hole with a brass plug and than drilling a straight hole through it?
I have a blade that I removed some pretty eaten up scales from and the hole is pretty messed up. Looks like it was erroded from both sides at different points, till they met in the middle. I've been playing with the idea of drilling it out and lineing the hole with a plug than drill a straight hole in it. Seems like a lot of work but I get bored sometimes and these things make the times fly by :p
Why not cut out the 'middleman' and use larger brass tubing?
This way you don't have to do the redrilling at the end?
Unless, that is, the hole is MUCH larger than brass tubing would accomodate for....
What about putting a mosaic pin in the large hole, and using the pivot-pin for the center of the mosaic?
