Hole size in anvil
Hi,
I was wandering what size hole or divot to drill in my anvil, for when Im pinning, and how deep to allow for extra pin stock when pining the first side? Also what size hole for resting the razor in the divot when I'm punching the old pin out, after I file the pin head flush? Two different size holes or will one size work? When I use the one particular hole for punching out the old pins, does the hole need the be bigger in diameter than the mushroomed old pin and washer?

I use a 1/8" bit and ONLY sink the very tip creating a divot
I don't use a hole to punch out pins, I simply use the jaws of the Vise opened just enough to allow the pin and washer to pass through and rest the razor in that gap
Tons of hints hidden here

I drilled a 1/16” by about a 1/4” deep hole in mine for pins. I make my own washers though. I used a 5/32” bit that I rounded to the shape I wanted and first drilled that until the full width of the bit just met the surface of the vise anvil face, then drilled a 1/16” hole to center my forming die that has a short piece of 1/16” drill shank stuffed in the end.

Those are the holes the other set up is for polishing washers. Don’t have a pic of my forming punch, I’ll have to post that later for you.
