I asked an ox the other day if he would give me some horn but i couldn't get it off his head. I figured that there has to be a easier way. :)

Finished up these two today ..
Brass lined wedge on the Ox horn scales & Bronze lined wedge on the Cocobolo scales..
Hours of peening took place :) They should have nice bevels when honed...
Thanks..Happy Sunday.

It's so clean!
Great work Joe :chapeau
I must say the Ox horn is better than buffalo in feel, looks and sturdiness..There can be lamination issues ,it is more layered, for want of good english .
Honed up these on the ozuku the larger one was a dream to hone, i went one handed to enjoy the experience more..
Green & Black Ox Horn or Chocolate & Mint if you like :)
I had to go back to the beginning a few times due to lamination/pitting issues.. but i think is was worth the effort.. Unfortunately the photos don't show its true colours.

The ox horn appears to be a much finer grain than the buffalo. The finer grain is much easier to work and polish.
My old hands like big scales!!
They look great;)
The green in these scales has a golden metallic look.. I'm really impressed.. I had enough for one more set, they are being fitted to a stub tail but its all a bit touch n go until tomorrow's final fitting.. I'll show photos if it works out.. cheers
