Is that a really old SB 9?
It's an old South Bend with an add-on leather drive. Chuck is 6 inches or so. I have a 4 jaw which is larger for it.
I have had it so long I often forget how to use it. When I do, I have to relearn it! :rofl2:
SB = South Bend 9 = the max diameter work you can mount (4.5" from center)
I learned on an old Heavy 10. Im guessing yours from late 20s? Early 30s? The change box is a style I had not seen before! Kind of want one now. I like my Atlas well enough, but the SB has that place milled out in my heart
Steve, It is a model 911A, 11 in swing, 4 foot bed. Serial is 80892. Dating these things seems confusing.
It's shure-enough old, though.
Just a quick update. I ordered the Taig lathe from Lee Valley, however not all of the components were available, and Lee Valley has dropped the Taig line. Taig is no longer shipping to Canada. So I returned what parts they did send me. Then I was poking around on Kijiji and came across a very nice Myford ML7. It shipped yesterday day.

Nice! :tu
It should be here just before I leave for work. Let the learning begin!
Right on, Shaun.
Can turn many a lethal shaving with that rig buddy.
