So I have some blades- mostly old sheffield wedge types where the tang tapers off in width at the end so that it is much thinner than up toward the blade/spine. This is fine, except for when I am trying to fit them into wood scales. Very dense wood without much flex doesn't allow the pins to tighten enough to keep the blade secure when closed and open. I have thought about using extra washers in between like some guys have done, but it doesn't even look like it would work well. Does anyone shape their wood to look flexed? Any other ideas?
