Wade and Butchera and such just finished up

Stunning work! Scale profile matches the blade style to a T. Excellent pin work and brilliant use of hidden pins for the shear strength at the butt. Of course, all of the blades are outstanding choices to be put back in use after more than 130 to 160 years of hiding in someone's forgotten cigar box. Your experimentation with the resin scales has paid off with some intriguing results and they have improved significantly over the first sets you did. These razors would sit proudly in anyone's razor rotation, for sure.

Gonna keep a very keen eye on the B/S/T forum for that W&B meat chopper. Love them! Awesome shavers too... but can be a little unforgiving!! But I think that adds to the appeal!:tu :tu

sorry, but i am one of those. i like the larger scribe work that you did on the ivory scales that you don't seem to like. i will pm you a little later about some. if you taught classes i would try to pay for a visit. 1. to learn, and 2. to see your collection.

Otis ,Getting the right formula of resin mix was the hardest part,there is nothing available that has the correct shore hardness and shear strength.If you use commercially available stuff it is either too soft(and scratches too easily),or too hard,and chips and breaks too easily(like celluloid)I finally found a guy that custom blends resins and he custom blended some stuff for me it took us 5 or 6 tries to get the right stuff.Each batch had to be 1/2 gallon,the minimum amont for a homogenous mix.We still mix it 1/2 gallon batches which would last a year or so,except the shelf life is around two months ,then it starts to blush,so I wind up throwing away around 1/2 gallon a month.It has to be vacuum degassed while curing otherwise its full of bubbles.Its kind of fun now all the hard part is done.....molds all made etc ...Best Regards Gary

Vgod,A couple of guys have come down too learn how to regrind and hone razors,and make scales.One of our members was here right after Thanksgiving he stayed for two days,and we honed and restored some razors,and made some scales.He says he is really got the honing down now.I do all my stuff on my back deck,right over the bay,so we can fish and grind at the same time.You are welcome anytime you wantcome down and well fish a day or two,and restore some razors.I dont charge for the fishing ,or the razor stuff.I have two boats docked at the house,ready to go at all times,the fishing is good

I am going to give those white scales to Bjorn(he asked for them first)some other guys said they liked them too,some people hated them some liked them.Some times I make scales,and throw them away because I dont like the colors,In the future I think I will post them,and give away from now on if the guys dont mind paying the postage,and doing the finish work(there is no explaining taste)

If I come down for any length of time (leaving a 4 year old son and 5 month old daughter with my wife), I might have to stay with you until I find work... and a more permanent place of residence... and a divorce attorney.... ;)

All kidding aside, if I were half a day's drive closer, I'd be knocking on your door about now (of course, I would have also asked for directions, giving you a head's up as well...)
