I have a nice razor that I bought just for the etching. It has an eagle with "E pluribus unum" across the bottom and black celluloid scales. I want to restore the blade and replace the scales but I want to make sure I don't damage this fabulous etching. Any and all hints and suggestions would be appreciated.
ps - I'm at work right now so pictures will follow once I get back home.
I really can't say unless I know what the blade looks like. A million things could change how you deal with the etching. I'll wait for pics.

As for the etching- It doesn't look like much is wrong with it. I can't tell, is there any rust or pitting or anything else you want to take off of the blade? Have you tried just polishing it by hand with MAAS or a similar metal polish?
