Hi, i just received a beau brummel wedge off ebay, and the in is very tight, maybe even a little too much when open, but still loose when closed. If i flip it upside down when it is closed, it slips out about an inch or maybe an inch and a half.
any way to tighten it here, but keep it from getting tighter when open all the way?

Without looking at it, I would bet the pin is bent. If the balde was loose before, someone may have tried to tap it to tighten it up and gotten carried away.
If the scales are in good shape (guessing they are), I'd just re-pin it.

Many of my razors are in a similar state. I'm not sure what causes it either. As long as the razor is comfortably tight for stropping and the shave I don't worry about it to much. If I ever travel with my razors I put a small rubber band or piece of tape on them or keep them in their box to make sure they can't open in transit. If it was flopping around or would just drop open I'd probably tighten the pin. Otherwise I figure it does no harm and I might (crack the scales) when I try to fix it.

Sounds like a bent pin. It drags on the bend when it is opens. I bent one when I pinned my first blade and bound up just like that.
Sometimes, you have a tapered tang and scales coming together at a taper due to the bowing caused by a taper wedge. When the blade is closed, the tapers align and the blade is loose. When the blade is open, the tapers are normal to each other and the blade is tight. I have several razors which behave like this. If it is as tight as is reasonable when open then there is not a lot you can do about the floppiness when closed.
