I was womdering if anyone puts washers between the scales and the tang?
Thanks Al
I always do. It makes for a nicer fit and finish, the blade doesn't rub on the scales nearly as much, and it opens much smoother.
Mike what size washer is normaly used for the spacer where the pivot pin is .I have rescaled 1 razor, my wapi but i reused the 1's that were on the wapi .I have a straight that i am working on right now that did not have spacer's what size would u suggest ,and can they be found localy like ace hardware.
I have rescaled a few razors and played with blade bearing configs. What I find works best for me, I use two washers on either side of the blade. I put a stainless size 0 on the wood side with a nylon size 0 on the blade side. So I have scale, stainless washer, nylon washer, blade, nylon washer, stainless washer, other scale. The nylon is very thin and adds no extra space but it gives a nice feel to the blade. The nylon will not ware on the blade like the stainless will.
Ace will have the size 0 stainless but not the nylon, and they will be around $0.15 each, or you can get a hundred for a couple of dollars at microfasteners.
Dave,
Could you explain the benefit of the two washers over either one separately?
