as a newbie i have been reading a lot of posts on restoration ect.
my experience in other collecting fields is leave it original...
i recently acquired a rogers 7 day ivory razor set.scales look great.blades have some rust but no pitting i can see.original box is ok.aside from using them would i damage the collectible integrity of the razors by sharpening or honing?
There are two types of collectors of razors out there right now..... There are those "other", guys that just collect the razors, and tuck them away, and seal them in little glass cases, to just look at... Those blasphemous heathen's that they are :roflmao
Then, there are the people, like most of us on this forum, that have seen the light, of a bright, sharp, blade, and have been enlightened in the knowledge of the smooth face :y
So make up yer mind where ya stand hehehe

I'd say cleaning and honing 'em up only adds value to a razor. Of what use is a blunt, rusty, non-shave-ready razor?
Also, if you don't remove the rust and clean the razors up, there's a chance that the rust spreads and thereby decreasing the value ;)
