I have just started to restore several razors and and have had difficulty holding them while sanding and polishing the blades. I have nicked myself several times over the last couple of week while hand sanding especially. What methods do you guys use to hold complete razors and just the blades when restoring them?

The "Ellis" blade jigs works great! I made two of them.
I machined a piece of black delrin to hold my razors in various positions.
It has a slot to hold the razor vertical to work on the spine.
It has a stepped groove with three neodymium magnets to work on either side of the razor. I realize that the magnets will have to be covered with tape to prevent metal chips from sticking to them permanently.
It has a "ledge" with no magnets and a dovetail to cover the edge also.
I will give it a try tonight to see if it works well or not.

:HJ I would like pics of the Mog. I have always wanted a unimog never found one the same time I had mony to spend on big toys. And a good idea on the holder. Any trouble with magnatizing the blades.

I am going on vacation next week but when I get back I will order some material and start making these. I might take a month for me to complete them all. If you want one send me a PM and I will send you one when I get them done. What do you guys think is a fair price for one of these jigs?
As for some UNIMOG pictures here you go. My mog is a 1978 406.121 with 20 forward speed and 8 in reverse. It has been a work in progress since I purchased it in 2002. The last picture is shortly after I purchased the Mog and before I replaced the cab, the other pictures are from within the last year.

Thanks for the mog pics. I now have mog envy to go with my razor envy. If you don't have a lock on the jig I would like to copy it. I will not sell them and cut you but I do have a Bridgeport and would like to make a similar jig for my personal use.

Im thinking of making mine from aluminum to better absorb the heat from the dremal when buffing. I have used my bench anval to buff on and find it is great to help keep a thin hollow cool.
