Regrind? and the cost

I am thinking about doing a custom regrind but I know that is above my ability. Here is what I want to do, I want to cut down a wapi or similiar type razor for shaving tight spaces. You may have seen my posts in other areas of the Forum :wbut I would also like to possibly have an inscription etched on the blade or tang as well. At this point I am just pricing the idea out, and the end result would be a gift. If anyone has some ideas on what this would cost I would appreciate either a reply or a PM and I will at that point give more details. I think I can handle the scales part but the actual regrind, and metal work is above my skill. Thanks in advance.

If you have a Dremel, then cutting off part of the blade and giving it a new point would not be overly hard. It's only a 10-15 minute job.
If you really think this is beyond your means, then send me a PM and I can do it for you, if you like.

I cannot do inscriptions though. At least, not in a way that would look good :D

As far as using the dremel for cutting, I thing i would be worried about the blade over heating how would I avoid having that issue?

Use a fresh cutting disc, and use high RPM, like 15000.

Start at the edge with the disc spinning awat from the edge (you don't want to hit into the edge), and you will get through it before the steel gets too hot.
As soon as you get through the edge, you move upwards to the spine, with the direction of the disc spinning into the blade.

When you do that, first make careful groove in the blade to guide you, and then follow the groove up and down so that the disc doesn't linger in one spot for too long.

Making the point style can be done very easily with a 1/2" drum wheel. Again, spinning at 15000 rpm or so.
If you sand near the edge, have the drum rotate from spine to edge.
If you sand near the spine, have the drum rotate from edge to spine.
That way you don't run the risk of the wheel grabbing the blade.
Again, don't linger in one place.
When you have the desired shape, use sandpapers to manually polish the point.

Try it on a practise blade first, if you don't have one, try cutting off a small bit first.
that way, even if you make a mistake and damage the point, there is enough left to try again.
but trying on a junker would be best probably.

I did this 2 times, and it worked out great both times.

As the title says project coochie razor is done, I may fine tune the finish a little more and I may wind up making wooden scales but the wapi blade has been cut down and the tip reshaped to become the first ever that we know of anyway "coochie razor" pics are posted in that thread if you feel like checking them out. I couldn't have done it by myself without the sound advice from Bruno, Josh Earl, Mike Ratcliff, and Cannonfodder. To all of you here is a great big Thanks.
