Razor Mechanic Needed

Gentlemen:

I have a question about proper etiquette concerning the site. I have a couple of razors which are in need of work. I have one dbl dk which needs to be re-pinned and then honed so I can start to use this razor.
Another is a new razor that I would like to have someone who is talented make me some nice scales as I do not care for the "boxy" scales that came on this razor. I know that we are not supposed to use this forum for solicitation but how can I find somebody to help me here. I do not do maintenance work and would rather enlist the talents of someone who will get joy out of this plus a little monetary gratification. Could you explain the rules to me. I know there is a forum for or workshop. What is the proper procedure for this?

Look in the workshop section of the forums,,,you'll find plenty of help there.

First, there's no rule against solicitation when that solicitation is for help with razors - in use, in finding or as in your case for repair work.

Second, "The Workshop" is the place for your request, and I've moved this thread there.

Third, most all of the restorers would like to see what they might need to do to restore your razors, so pictures of the razors would be great!

Hi Jim

Pictures would help. Many times we see somebody give a description of, "it just needs a little cleaning and a hone", and then we see a nightmare come in the mail.
Also are you set on custom scales or just a set of serviceable scales? There is a bit of a price difference. ;)

Also have a look in the gallery for examples of work done in the past.
