Default Wade & Butcher Chopper - Can I save it ?

While on vacation last week, I found this razor in an antique shop in NC. While I usually pass over razors with chipped blades, I thought I would take a chance on this one (besides, it was only $20). I figured that even if I can't save the blade, it would make an interesting display piece.

Anyway, do you think I can round the toe off to get rid of the chips and still have a usable blade ? Is it worth trying ?

You can make a very nice razor, cut it off just beyond the barbers notch, regrind the round point, regrind the barbers notch, refinish, rescale. It will only be reckonizable as a rework to the experienced eye(if done properly)Best Regards gary

That would be great provided you have or have access to a grinder, but not everyone can afford a nice grinder a bandsaw and a bunch of tools. If you cant regrind it round the tip and make a huge smile, theres not much to loose, and if it doesn't work you can still regrind it in the future if possible.

I can see that boy is destined to be a coochie razor. Love those W&B big boys.

If efforts are taken to keep the blade cool, the surgery could be done with a dremel tool and cut-off wheel and a small dremel sanding drum.
