A few questions:
1. Do most straight razors even USE thrust washers (thin washer between blade and scale on each side)?
2. Where do you get them? The ones on knife-making sites are usually too large for our use!
3. Does anyone know if the Hess "44" used them? (I have a disassembled one on my bench!)

you can get them at microfasteners.com
There's brass, nylon, stainless,...
I always use them in my restores. I can't help you about the Hess but not every vintage razor I dismantle uses washers.

Yes the Hess uses them, you have e-mail with links also....
The ones from microfasteners work just fine but I find them slightly thick, if you want them like the vintage ones here is a thread to look at

i take a no.2 flat washer brass from microfastner and flaten it out to the thickness that i want it then redrill the center hole it works just fine.
