Hone the Spine?
I am a newb. So let me say that first. I still have not been able to find a straight razor around here (NC), and spending $50 bucks for one off the net seems silly bc I may not actually like shaving with a straight razor. Though I really hope I do.
Anyway, my questions is when you hone the razor, does the blade lay flat with the spine against the hone as well? If not, what kind of angle should I be shooting for here?
I have a Spyderco Triangle Sharpener and the modle I have has a thing on the back so you can lay the stones out flat and hone razors. It works really well on all my other knives so I can't wait to try in on a stright, but I wanna make sure I am doing it right.
I looked at the info in the newb section and I could not quite tell from the illustrations.

Welcome to SRP ! Yes, you lay the razor flat on the hone and the spine makes a correct angle. A lot to it so you might want to check out some of the videos here. Also read up on honing and shaving with a straight in general in the SRP Wiki at the toolbar above. :gl:

Question???
What grits are the stones on the triangle sharpener???

I think you would have to take it up the Spyderco Ultra Fine and I don't know that they make the triangle rods in that grit - just the bench stone. I think the Fine grade will be a little too course. - this is just from what I've read, not experience.
