Ok guys here is my first attempt at scales.. they are claro walnut w/ a quilted maple wedge. The finish is semi gloss poly..just waiting for the blade to be pinned (when my washers come in this week. I'll post better pics when I'm done... (all of the dark spots are the grain and figure of this wood... I really need some better photos).
These get 2 thumbs up from me!

They look great!.. I like the curve you gave them..
I hope my wenge will cooperate and turn into some beautiful scales as well.(maybe if I ask nicely)

Wow! They look great. What size stock did you use, 1/8 or 3/16?

They look great, i love the shape
I started with 1/4 inch stock, but I thickness sanded them down to 1/8 using a homebuilt drum sanding jig. They are actually just a hair under 1/8th right nowQuote:
