Just put in on ebay, "VINTAGE CUT THROAT. TRUST ME THIS IS SHARP. SMALL NICK ON TOE OF BLADE. GREAT COLLECTORS ITEM"
Bad luck!
Restoration just goes a bit destructive every now & then.
Bet you next time you'll say to yourself, "Do I really need to make this 'mirror finish' ?".
What a shame - lovely work on the back, too.
It looks a bit like Moby Dick now... :)
Regards,
Neil
Sorry for the loss! I really feel for you. It's never a happy story when this happens. You always end up blaming yourself for not being careful enough and being such a dummy but unfortunatly it's not always our fault...
And it's a good thing it didn't snap and caught you in the fingers or eyes.
Oh man! That's tough luck. I know how that feels.
My heart goes out to you.
I've had that happen to a blade before while on the buffer. I'm still able to type so that should give you an idea of how lucky I was LOL
Seraphim,
Can you tell us how the damage happened so we don't repeat the...erm...disaster?
Grind it short and rescale, post in the woman's corner. Bummer:gaah:
That does suck the big one. Nice photography, though. (Mom told me to always find something positive to say ;) )
Keep in mind I am in no way comparing my skills (or rather lack thereof) to yours...
But my first attempt at restoring a Dubl Duck was chronicled here: http://straightrazorpalace.com/works...-part-1-a.html
Two good things came out of my "tragedy":
1.) I was able to get the remains to somebody who could use the parts
2.) While I couldn't find the chip, al least it wasn't embedded in me!
OK, so I used the dremel, and buffed that little split right out of the blade.
Good as new!
That Maas really is good stuff!
OK, OK.......
So I wasn't being entirely truthful....
I just got two more of the same worked backs from Zeth::p
Ouch! I haven't tried buffing yet. This makes me a little leary. Is there a more suitable surface than a counter top? And by the way, LameEagle: Is that Smilin' Jack on your avatar?
son of a bit..... :gaah: that's sucks... i feel for ya man. just got done restoring 3 blades myself. those ebay descriptions are something else i tell ya. could post it for sale regardless just for shz-n-giggles. after all there's nothing a little JB weld, ducttape, or superglue can't fix
