W&B Elite project
This had worm eatin black horn scales with a nice design inpressed. To far gone to save. So copy the design onto acrylic, engrave and gold fill. Presto reproduction scales. That is the easy part, now to save the etching on the blade while cleaning it up.

Did not go to far with this one. Wanted to save the etching, so it still has some minor pits and stains.

Great and classic looking with some personality.

Nicely done! How do you go about doing an etching like that with the gold inlay? It really does look like an original set of scales. I'm quite impressed! :tu

The etching is done with a laser. I scanned the old scales into a tracing program then clean it up adding in what the scan did not pick up. Then into the the laser to be cut and engraved. I used a gold paste that is for restoring picture fames. You can use Rub n buff also. Shape the edges, buff and you have a set of scales.
Thanks
