Sorry to bother you Gentlemen, I am very new to straight razor shaving (still in the information gathering stage) but could not resist buying the following razor as it is similar to what my father used when I was very young.
Unfortunately when the razor arrived I noticed that the edge is concave, is this normal or abnormal wear?

With some serious work, it may be possible to remove the frown and get her to shave again. But, unless you have some attachment to that razor in particular, I would say your time and efforts would be better spent on a different blade.
The short answer is, yes, of course it is.
Most razors are either straight, or smiling (curved the other way)
That looks like years of incredibly bad honing, and I'd think you'd want to straighten the edge back out if you were going to use it, which would mean removing a HUGE amount of metal. I'm really not sure it would be worth the trouble.
I'm sure some of the honemeisters can give better feedback.
It rather looks like a pretty warped blade to me.
(When I do not mistake the hone wear and the shape of the bevel)

In that case I would not bother.
You'll be running into the shoulder anyway when you shorten it.
Yes! But unless it has some special value to you I would suggest you find another razor.

That frown looks really bad. I hope you didn’t pay too much for it. You may want to find another Duck... They can be expensive, but if you keep looking you may find a bargain. Try to get one without so much wear.
However assuming the scales are in good shape… someone may have a better blade and transplant to your scales for a reasonable fee.

eesh... what a frown, that's no way to treat a duck. I'd find another, that's going to take forever. Check the classifieds here, I've seen some really economical options there recently.
