please move this to the general workshop place i have no idea why i put it here thanks
Be sure to seal the wood and be extra careful when pinning. My first restore was done with a soft wood(spalted sweet gum) and they look great on that Geneva blade. They can be seen in the classifieds with my honing ad.
i have done 2 sets of cedar. they were both beautiful. i just sold one a few weeks ago. they were thin and had good flex, however a little light. i liked them and will be doing more.
the other set i have is gunstock style. pretty stuff. they are a bit thicker and are great.
good luck, and yes be sure to seal them.
