If you decide on DA's as fitting your target market then may I suggest you have them checked for straightness etc, have the heel ground back to where it should be and polished like has been done by one of our guys ( Serephin?). There are a lot of shortcomings that can get you with DA's.
You get what you pay for,
How about a custom is blade blank project by one of our members, and master razor/knife smith?
The concept is in production stage, and I'm working on one for myself.
To me, if I were going for a high end set, I would go this route. Where will you be getting your badger from?
When I buy a high-end item, I research, inspect, invest. If one part is questionable, I'll walk away from the entire idea and never return. This is something to keep in mind. Putting a DA into a $300 dopp kit will be insulting.

Is that a MUST, that the razors have to be the same? I mean isn't there a chance for the customer to have a choice to choose from nice vintage blades? (even if You rescale them, to match to the rest of the kit). I think if You go for a high-end kit, the razor should be a good one. (I don't have anything against DA's but...) Of course if they fit in Your budget.
The cool thing going on in the straight razor market is where enthusiast buy up old straight razors and bring them back to life with honing, rescaling, and polishing.
I saw a site where an enthusiast was doing this full-time and all of his razors were beautiful. The cool element is that the razor is a unique one when you buy it and you are taking part in recycling.

Thanks for all the feed back guys, I will look into that thred on the costume blade blanks.
Well if Lyn says No then perhaps I have the wrong idea. Just thought that DAs could come up good.
So does anyone know if there are companies out their, beside DOVE, TI, LeGrelot & Boker, who mass manufacture razors? Maybe I could source the blades from an already in production blade. Is their any perhaps smaller factories that anyone knows about that could supply for this kit?
Thanks again every one.

To be completely honest- if someone hasn't found some other 'old factory' or whatever, mass-producing quality straights by now, it probably isn't happening. Seems like this idea comes up a lot and then never really comes to fruition. If you are thinking of doing something cheaply, then obviously there is the issue of mismatching quality and sub-par products as has been brought up. Also, if you do go the cheap route and try DA's or whatever- there are guys who already do that- offering cheap starter kits with Wapis or DA's. I'd just think you'd want to offer some more consistent blades without cosmetic or functional problems like the cheapest blades may have. I don't see a way for you to do this WELL and keep it that cheap.
