Trying to get this razor rescaled and the TI replacements came with washers...two big and two small. I assume the two larger ones go on the inside between the blade and scales and the small washers go on the outside and are peened along with the 1/16 nail.
But the small washers won't go over the nail....help?

You place that small washer on top and slowly start to tap it and it kinda does a cold pattern weld and makes a nail head on the other side!\
Did I mention that I have NO technical experience at all? :o

The TI pins and washers are a close 'force fit'. The washer is a raised, ring-punched form. You will also notice that TI pins are 'pointed' like a nail. The washer will stretch to accomodate the fit of the pin, but you need to do this operation over a starter block.
At the TI factory the razor pinning is done at a specially prepared anvil. Of course, a block of mild steel, aluminum or even a (very) dense piece of hardwood will serve. You will want to have a hole drilled into the 'starter block'. The hole needs to be just large enough to allow the pin to pass freely down into it and to be withdrawn without trouble.
The operation is as follows: Push the pin through the razor scales and then place one of the washers down onto the point of the pin. Now invert the two over the hole drilled into your starter block and gently tap the pin through the washer down into the hole in your block until the washer has been pushed up (by the block) to properly seat against the side of the razor scale. Eazy-Peazy!
Once the washer is seated against the razor scale you can withdraw the pin from the starter block, clip it to the appropriate (short) length and peen it down tight.
By the way, I notice that these thin, ring-form washers are often used nested, one inside the other, for extra strength. But this is your own decision.
An additional note concerning the hole drilled down into the starter block: If you grind a very slight hollow depression at the mouth of the hole drilled through the block, you can slide one of the washers (upside down, of course) into this hollow which will hold it in place while you place the razor and pin over it.

I have some #00 and #0 brass washers coming from Micro. I have made a dimpling block for #0 washers that is similar to what you are advising. The problem is the #0 washers I have on hand look to big when installed even if dimpled.
Do you think I can install the #00, 0.050" id. on 0.062" od pins using your method? Maybe I should taper the dimpling mandrills pin.
I use a pair of pliers and put the washer on the nail and lightly grab the tip of the nail with the pliers, then tap the pliers with a hammer. That pops the washer down to the scales.
Red, What scales did you buy and do you like them? I was looking at the imitation tortoise. My first rescale was a Dovo plastic I do not like them.
ignatz, thanks for the description, I understand it perfectly. I was planning on getting a jewelers anvil at Harbor Freight and I think I'll drill a small hole in it per your direction.
jreiter22, I got the $11 black acrylic and the $12 tortoise acrylic. They're alright if you bear in mind that they're budget minded. The scales, IMHO, come unfinished meaning that you'll have to clean up the edges a bit with sandpaper (not a big deal) and drill you're own pivot hole. Nobody's site mentions it, but the TI scales come with replacement pins as well as the Dovo scales, but alas I didn't know that so I got the scale sets I needed and a couple extra $3 pin sets (I'm sure I'll put them to good use.
Red, I have a 3/4" bolt I am going machine on the lathe with a 1/16 hole 9/16" deep so I can pre-head 1/16" rod for pins. I just have to make some more head way on these 60 razors I bought. I have some up on eBay under mysterydoll, Item# 160364885319 is one. I am listing the repaired ones first then I will get to the others when I have time to figure the value. The fellow I bought them from sure was not handy.
