What would you like to see with this blade?

Hi everyone, I have been cleaning up this Christensen for a while so that it can be given away... it was part of a resto challenge issued by Bruno a billion years ago, and with the place getting robbed and putting everything back together and my son's first birthday we have been swamped. Anywho, I have finally gotten to a place where I can get back to this razor (luckily I took it west with me, so it wasn't stolen) and I'd like to hear some opinions.

Basically, I took out the rust with some sandpaper working up from about 150 to 500 or so, then I hit the buffer with some greaseless compounds. Right now it has a nice satin finish with some original looking grinding marks (I had a christensen just like this but in mint condition to compare with and it looks almost exactly like the original).

Do you guys think I should polish it up more or leave it with the satin type finish?

I'd also like to hear what you'd like to see scale-wise on this blade.

any questions, suggestions, comments, etc. will be appreciated.

I would love to see some dark wood scales cut in the style of the new TIs go on such a beautiful blade.

If I were you I would give it a gentle polish, for a very simple reason, I love shiny blades.

I voted as is. Since you say it is very like the original blade you had I would go no further. OTOH, I prefer a vintage blade with some patina to one that is shined up like a new dime so maybe I am a bit prejudiced .

I also voted to leave it as is. Looks great. Give it some dark hardwood scales, with similar grain to the table that its on.

Looks great as it is. Now, dress it up with some ebony - or buffalo horn scales.

I know what the blade looked like originally, so I can say that this result is very, very good. So far it looks like a landslide victory for leaving the satin finish.

I vote leave the satin finish.Amboyna burl scales would be great with that blade.

Dude, scale it up and get it cutting some wiskers. That blade is nice, now its time to give it wings!
