Gents,

Received three razors today, purchased together on ebay. One is pure junk. These two have mucho potential, at least I think they do. Your thoughts?

The first one is stamped Dubl Duck Satinedge. The scale says C-MON and has the initials PJM. The scales seem a bit too tight as the razor brushes them upon closing. Light tarnishing, but no rust or pits

JA Henckels. One small nick near the heel of the blade. I actually overlooked it on my first glance. No rust, minimal tarnish or staining, and one pit on the back side of the blade. Scales may be just a touch on the loose side when opened, but closes snugly.

It's time for the projects to begin!

The dd Satinedge is a classic quality blade. This model originally came with clear celluloid scales. Unfortunately, clear celluloid is the most prone to rot and deterioration and few examples in pristine state survive. Somewhere in its life, the clear scales were replaced with the Peter J. Michels handle off another classic, the C-MON.

JA Henckels once made razors, even a pocketknife ot two. It is great steel also and ought to serve you many years barring mishap. This steel will likely be a tad harder than the dd blade. As such, it may take a few more strokes to get keen, but will stay that way a bit longer.

Thanks for the comments guys. I figured that the scales on the DD had been replaced, but I do like the look. Placed a $25 bid on these and turned out to be the only bidder. Had the third razor been of any quality, I felt like this would have been an incredible bargain, but even with the two, I'm quite happy.
