Hi all! I was wondering what other type of pin stock could be used to make razor pins instead of Brass? I currently use 1/16" Brass but am very curious to find out if something in the line of Stainless Steel or Aluminum or something else can be used? What I'm looking for is a silver toned pin and have no clue as to what I could use for that or where to get it? Thanks for all the help guys! You all are the best!!!:bow:bow:bow
The only two types I know of are brass and nickel/silver. You can get both from texas knife supply. These NiAg pins are the only silver ones I know of. The secret to the SS washers and shining them is to scrub them on your finger tip on 2000 grit sandpaper. Others may be able to help you more, but thats what little I know.

Go for it crushnbugs! It is pretty uplifting to get a razor restored and then use it yourself or sell it to someone who will truly enjoy it! The only thing that is better than that is the kind words all here at SRP say anout your work. And they are willing to help out with any problem you might have. In the UK it is easiest to find brass, stainless steel & aluminium rod at Model Engineer suppliers (e.g. Squires).
I would expect you would have similar vendors in the US.
They are most useful for things like 1 1/2 oz ball pein hammers, small anvils, bar stock etc.
