Is there any source for rams horn scales? I love the textured surface on the ones I've seen. Cow horn is nice and all but has little flare to it, It's not rustic enough :p
Saw the one posted in SotD and was drooling :)

Classic Shaving has some but they're pricey.

Our own Olivia has some nice deer antler scales that look rustic here: (scroll down to bottom of page)Also,it's in German so you may have to use an online translator.
Olivia's handgemachte Naturseifen

Your best bet is simply ask around and find and old Ram that wishes to live forever in the minds of others.
sheep and even goats live for that kinda sacrifice I hear????
Seems like the next one I drop will have to give up the horns for scales... Seems like a good reason to hunt some rams :p
+1 on Olivia's scales, they look great and are far cheaper than the extortionate prices offered by Classic Shaving/Thiers Issard.
On a further note, although my Thiers Issard scales are fine; I have read several times, most recently by Gssixigun, that Thiers Issard scales are a good example of poor craftmanship. Even more reason to go for Olivia's.
Either way, please post pics. This is a material that is too much of a rarity and I dont know why. Im now tempted to puchase some! Thanks for reminding me of it!
This thread got me thinking that perhaps chamois horn would be a really cool material for scales.
