Sanding Gun
Here is a pic of a tool I made for sanding the blade of a straight razor. I have several of these. First you cut a strip of sanding paper and wrap it into a roll. I use a small dowel to get it started. Then you insert it into the gun and pull it around the leather strip. Then you simply hold it tight with your finger while you sand. It doesn't slip. To feed the sandpaper, when it gets worn in one spot simply pull it backward about a half inch and then forward again and hold it with your finger when sanding. It is very easy to use and saves your hands from carpal tunnel or worse yet, a cut finger!

Thanks, I have several others which are cut at different angles for sanding in different directions. The ends are shaped to fit the area sanded and the leather strip helps it to conform. Mack

Post more pics. I really like your design, it puts my pink pearl erasers to shame. I would like to how you shaped the other sanders.

OK . Here are some pics of one that holds the paper horizontal instead of vertical. I think it is easier to use than the other one but that is just my opinion. These things would be right or left handed because if made right handed for a left handed person, you would have to hold the paper with your thumb instead of your finger which is a little bit aucward.. I will be glad to make these for someone if there is a call for them. Mack

This is one of those thing that really make this forum SO good, you just would not find this anywhere out there and its such a simple thing to do but none of us had thought of it.
Brilliant!
Thank you for sharing that with us!

You could try wrapping a rubber band around the skinny part and use it to hold the loose end of the sandpaper in place instead holding it down with your finger/thumb.

I have to get me one of them. sweet work!

Thanks for the post,excellent ideas

Sweet idea. I'm gonna make me one of them.
Thanks Mack

Superbleu
I tried that but it has to be removed to pull the sand paper backward to get to a new place. Holding it with the index finger is a natural motion since you have to grip the gun anyway. Keep thinking though. Thanks Mack
