Lynn asked for projects on SRP Yahoo but I could not post the pics so am posting here.
I bought two razors on ebay the oldest was an old Wright Cast Steel with one broken scale. The other was used for parts since it had identical scales. I used the good scale from the parts razor plus I repinned and made collars for the Wright razor. This is a very old probably early 1800's razor. Pictures of after are attached.

That's a fantastic looking blade.
I'm just trying to get my head around how you would lay it on the stone. Do you have to kind of roll it along the blade?

I love that blade, too! I am not sure it will shave, though... Odd shape to hone, and quite thick edge too...

OK guys...... you have intrigued or challenged me to hone that blade and shave with it. I will let you know how it goes. ;)

:) :) I honed this razor last night and shaved with it this morning. It actually shaved pretty good better than I thought it would. It was tricky getting it honed as it is a FULL WEDGE with a convex blade but actually got it done. The only thing that I didn't like was the small tang which is actually common for this age of razor.

Pretty impressive. Looks like there's some serious weight behind that thing.
Was this the sort of razor that would have been used in a barber shop, or is this more a personal one?

I believe that since this was one of the first type of blades made, being the full wedge with no hollowing, it could have been used by either. Guys correct me if I am wrong. :fim:
