Compac .0005" Dial Test Indicator (Swiss made)
Now I've got to put in that order for brass and nickel silver rod! And, I've got to brush up on my horrible math skills don't cha know.

The lathe looks like fun. It is kind of funny I bought a used Sherline lathe a few months ago I have enjoyed it an awful lot. It is a good little tool.

Very cool, Charlie. I have a partner in crime then. I joined the Yahoo Sherline group some time ago before I even got this lathe. It seems like a great group of people. The Yahoo group format compared to SRP though is like horse and buggy. It's something I just can't get accustomed to.Quote:

I like working with lathes. I made a baseball bat when I was at school on a lathe and it was great fun! One of these days, when I have more space (!), I'd like to get a decent workshop together. The one at school was great, we had a forge, lathes, buffers, saws, drill presses.... I wish I'd been a straight razor shaver then! :D

i have a 13 inch southbend but its realll way too big for vmy use so imm lookin gfor a smaller lathe (jsut not quite that small ) for knife and flashlight making
looks like fun none the less

A little lathe like the Sherline is just the ticket for turning tiny washers and fittings for (among other things) straight razors. I actually have a TAIG lathe. Same sort of beast, just a little funkier. Whichever you choose, a tiny lather like this makes a wonderful piece of kit for the workshop if you have the spare coins to afford it. :)
I have an Atlas Craftsman metal lathe as well as a wood lathe and this little lathe I built from scratch. You can turn wood on a metal lathe too.
