Epoxy resin. Do's and ..........

I made a few sets of scales and decided to go with the epoxy resin. It was fairly easy. If you read the directions and follow them, you will have minimum problems.
BUT!!! I could not get one set of scale with out a few specs of dust in the coating. So the instructions recomend sand and coat again. I did so.
Well, I dont recomend the second coat unless you calculated for about 1/16 to 3/32 THICKER SCALES!!! I did not figure this out until I went to assemble my razor. The scales were enormous!!! My heart sank! I had to sand them down and start over. ARGH!!!
So if you wind up with some inperfections in the epoxy, wait until its fully cured sand out inperfections with 600 gt and finish with 1000 gt and buff or hand polish to bring shine back. Dont listen to the instructions and put second coat unless you want some beefy scales.
