Hi everyone. I am new to the forum and my name is Phil.
I have a question about an heirloom razor I just received and thought I'd "put it out there" to see if I can get help with some history on it, of the company - or if anyone knows what it is or anything about the background of this company Brummel-Werk in New York.
I will try and get a picture taken and posted as soon as possible because I know a picture is worth a thousand words (as the old saying goes). Till then I will describe it as best I can.
Description:
*Overall length (blade and handle) is just under 9 inches.
*It appears to have horn scales on it - with a black and white, layered pattern in them that makes it appear ZEBRA-like.
*Two pin handle.
*The overall length of the blade is 5 1/2" including it's "monkey tail".
*It's a 4/8th's inch blade made of what looks to be carbon steel.
I can see tiny hammer marks (very small dots) in the steel on the tang. Or at least that's what they appear to be.
*It appears to be a 1/4 hollow ground blade - as it's pretty thick all the way to the edge from the spine. It's got a pronounced "V" look to it when profile is exposed.
*On one side of the tang is stamped "Brummel-Werk", and underneath it it says: "NEW YORK",
*On the other side of the tang it's got what looks like a coat of arms symbol and below it a name "Beau Brummel" stamped on it - and directly below that is a circular stamp with the imprint: "WEDGE".
That's the best I can do at this time. As I said I will try and post a PIC as soon as I can.
Any help in identifying it or it's maker will be greatly appreciated and add to is nostalgia and sentimentality.
Thanks again.......
~Phil L.
