That is a sweet stockpile. When I first saw it, I actually thought about the beautiful shaving brushes that could be turned from those blanks... Great stuff! :)

VERY nice. Which of the woods is that? And what finish did you use on it?
Fred
stabilized redwood lace and CA tho i dont think i would really need it as it only adds a bit of depth to the scale

Ha! Beautiful wood you have there. I have a cedar burl box that my girlfriend bought me and have fallen in love with the wood. I've actually got some redwood burl that I plan on using on my first restore. Glad to see someone else using it for razor scales, I'm looking forward to more incredible work, thanks for sharing.
Beautiful pieces of wood you've got there. Looking forward to seeing how you shape them into scales.
CA finish is a good idea on Redwood Burl. It has a tendency to be a bit fragile, but can turn out amazing.

burls should really be stabilized and even more so in thin cross sections that make up a razors scales
CA can help but burl is jsut one of those things
wow that redwood lace i stunning. the dots compliment the lines beautifully. super nice work. i want a harner! :)
Absolutely beautiful! You're quite an artist!
I love it! Next set of scales I am going to try my hand at the single pin scales. Do you use the table saw or band saw? I did find a trick, if you want to call it that, on working with black palm. Two layers of CS on both sides will help a lot (didn't eliminate it for me) when working with it...I used a roundover bit in the router to round the edges. I had one strand break away...
Is that steel did you use on that blade? The damascus as the outer looks super cool, almost like some of the swords I used to work with...
