Duck Dilemma: "CLIP the bill???"
I was fortunate to pick up a couple Dubl Duck Goldedge razors recently. Warped scales on both, minor areas of neglect, typical? almost total loss of gold on tang and monkey tail etc. The larger 6/8 round point has some minor issues as well which could be addressed at a later time... My concern is the 5/8 blade which has been subject to unusual grinding or damage to the tip which has resulted in a chaotic reverse French point... Perhaps there is a name for it... (messed up). My question is.... If you owned it would you have a capable razorsmith correct the tip and return it to a somewhat more normal point? Realizing it would turn it into more of a Gold-Dwarf Duck... Or would you simply leave it well enough alone? I have a whopping $13.75 invested in it so I could afford to make the subtle change without being upside down on my total outlay. Here are some pics of the offending Duck Bill...

Either way, the edge is already shortened. In terms of function, it's already a gold-dwarf duck.
If it were mine, I'd at least want a pretty looking gold-dwarf duck instead of one with those ugly tips that crazy people seem to have ground into a lot of old razors.

since it looks odd to me I'd change it, but it's a matter of aesthetics.
I would consider making it

Tell you the truth Mike I couldn't live with it like that. I would either offer it to a new guy or throw it in a drawer and forget it existed. As you know, the more razors you have, the more picky you get. For a guy with a goatee or a beard it would be handy if the point was made to look presentable. Shorter razors to get into the hard to reach spots.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
