Greetings everyone,
My first post. Thanks for having me. I'm thinking of buying some brand new replacement scales for my new razor. The set is by Thiers Issard with pin included (duh). Just curious how difficult this whole process is? Would a small screwdriver and a tiny hammer be sufficient? Thank you
Welcome to SRP. I bought a set of replacement TI ram's horn scales and it did include the pins but the pivot hole is not drilled. So you have to align the blade correctly to set it up to drill it. Have you ever re-pinned a razor ? Or tightened a loose pivot ? It is probably, like a lot of things , easy, if you know how. :) In the SRP Wiki gssixgun posted a tutorial in the restoring razors section on pinning scales. Take a look at that and see if you feel like your skill level is up to it. If you're comfortable with it go for it. My TI scales are safe in a drawer for the past year. :boohoo:

Since this is your first attempt at trying something like this...perhaps you should send it out for a quick repin. It won't cost an arm and leg either. If you want to practice a repin, might I suggest a razor that didn't cost you so much...:)
